THIS MONTH’S GOOD QUESTION
Every month I go out into the community and ask one good
question and report the answers.
This month’s good question is, “What restaurant(s)
would you like to see in
Gilroy’s
downtown?”
“I’d
like to see an IHOP, a Kirk’s Steak Burgers or a Morgan
Hill Chinese Takeout.” --Lindsay Silva
“I have
to get my .02 in as well. I’d love to see Morgan Hill’s
Ragoots open a location in our downtown. I’d also love to
have a Red Lobster! Another great one would be something
like the Sonoma Chicken Coop. Ooh, and an Indian fusion
place that plays bhangra music on the weekends!”
--Cynthia Clinton
“A good
fish and chips place, like
Wellington’s
was. I’d also like a cool Turkish or Turkish fusion place
where I can get great kebabs. A Red Lobster would be good
too.” –Joseph Fernandes
“I’d
love a good French Bistro downtown.”
--Linnea Smith
“I’d
like to see a trendy dinner place, a micro-brewery or a
nice steak house.” –-Tim Wecks
“Italian! The downtown needs Italian or what about
Chinese?” --Dan from Econo Furniture

SPOTLIGHT ON BUSINESS
This month’s featured business is
ECONO FURNITURE
in the heart of Gilroy’s
Downtown on the southeast corner of Sixth and Monterey
Streets.
Econo
Furniture
7390 Monterey St
Gilroy, CA 95020
(408) 846-8788
Business Hours: M-Sat = 10am to 8pm, Sun=11am to 6pm
Econo
Furniture has been the feature of interest on the
southeast corner of Monterey and Sixth for nearly 10 years
now. In business since December 1999, you know them by
the unique furniture they display outside – usually unique
chairs in the shape of a flower, hand, or even in the
shape of an elegant high-heeled shoe.
Every
furniture store has furniture, but what sets this store
head-and-shoulders above the others in town is its
people. The staff is warm and friendly and always gives
visitors a friendly greeting when they enter the store.
Plus, if they see you more than once, they usually
remember your name. This I know from personal
experience!
If
you’re outside looking in at the dining and bedroom
sections of the store, it can look like they are closed or
like that section is off limits, but it’s not! If they
are open in the main part of the store, on the corner,
they are happy to open the door for you if they know you
want to look around. It’s locked because it’s not
accessible from the main floor inside the store - it just
has a separate entrance is all. Don’t be shy!
Stop by
Econo Furniture today and see why I love this store so
much. I know you’ll love it too!
February’s special is a Queen sized mattress set (mattress
& box spring) for only $299!
POSITIVE FOCUS
Resisting Gossip Around the Water Cooler Puts Your
Valuable Energy To Better Use
You
probably don’t do this yourself, but we all know people
who do…
Did you
know that gossiping is a form of “poison”? It’s a form of
negativity, passed from person to person, that divides
people from each other and perpetuates more negativity.
People swallow this poison and move on to poison every
other person they tell. This adds each person’s negative
feelings to an already swirling vortex known as a downward
spiral. The downward spiral will attract more of the same
bad energy into the lives of each of the people who
contributed energy to this vortex.
Be part
of an upward spiral instead and magnetize better
experiences into your life! You have a choice.
How
To Beat Office Gossip
·
If you
notice one person is the primary gossip-monger, have as
little interaction with that person as possible.
·
Dive
into your work, thus depriving the gossip-monger the
attention he/she craves.
·
If you
have to sit through someone’s gossip, make sure it stops
with you.
·
Turn it
around by saying something complimentary about the person
being attacked and then walk away.
·
Choose
your work friends wisely and remember that work is not the
place to share all types of information.
DID
YOU KNOW?
-
Did you
know that Valentines Day love makes Libra babies? You
could have your very own snappy dresser before the year is
out. Put your petty cares aside and Make Libras, Not
War! But don’t think about it too much… he who hesitates
has a Scorpio.
-
Did you
know that you can improve your vision, sometimes to the
point of not having to wear eyeglasses at all, by devoting
some time every day to eye exercises? Get busy; it’s
almost sunglasses weather. They have shades now that are
so big you’ll look like Fearless Fly.
-
Did you
know that the absolute, most sure-fire way to get closer
to your dreams is to live them now (as in TODAY) to any
degree that you can? Surely there’s something you can do
today that will get you one smidgey bit closer to the
goals that mean so much to you. I double-dog dare ya!
-
Did
you know that if a pair of jeans doesn’t make your butt
look good, it’s not even worth $1? Millions of Americans
each year develop a painful condition called “Swivel Neck”
from trying to observe their fannies in the mirrors of
dressing rooms. Don’t let this happen to you; bring a
hand mirror. If the back view isn’t all you’d hoped, just
say no, man. Just say no. |

VALENTINE’S DAY IS FEB. 14
That’s a
Thursday. Don’t forget to make your dinner reservation as
many days in advance as possible, so you have the best
hope of avoiding a long wait in line or worse… no table at
all.

MOVIE REVIEW:
3:10 TO YUMA
Forward: I watch a lot of movies. I’m morally and
spiritually opposed to regular broadcast television to the
degree that not only do I not buy television service, but
I don’t even have an antenna on my TV. I do, however,
have a Blockbuster Movie Pass.
The
movie, “3:10 to
Yuma”
is a gritty story about life in another time. A man,
emasculated by a crippling injury, struggles to keep his
pride and usefulness intact in an age where living is
rough and takes every bit of intestinal fortitude one
has. It’s a great story with interesting characters. You
can feel for all of them. It’s a sad movie in a lot of
ways, but the sadness is redeemed by a generosity of
spirit that comes from a surprising quarter.
In a nut
shell… Give it a watch - you won’t be sorry.
